Finance & Administrative Officer

Contract: Permanent

Working arrangements: 37 hours per week term time only

Salary: £23,245 - £26,410 (starting salary will depend upon qualifications and experience)

Responsible to: Chief Operating Officer

The post of Finance & Administrative Officer will provide support to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Education Officer of the Trust. It will be a varied role and the appointed person could find themselves supporting schools in respect of financial queries, undertaking HR administrative tasks and welcoming guests to the Trust’s offices. It is therefore essential that any appointed person will be highly professional, flexible and will have a breadth of experience working in a customer focused business or educational environment.

As the Trust’s Directors expect there to be a close working relationship between the Diocese of St Albans Multi-Academy Trust and the Board of Education, it is also important that any successful candidate has good interpersonal skills, the ability to form strong working relationships, and that they wholeheartedly support not only the ethos of the Diocese of St Albans Multi-Academy Trust but also the wider priorities of the Board of Education as it seeks to support the 136 schools within the Diocese of St Albans network of schools.

Minutes Secretary

Contract: Permanent (subject to 6 month probationary period)

Working arrangements: Term time only. Approximately 22 meetings per year. Opportunity to work from home.

Salary: Approx £5000 per annum based on £12 per hour. 4 days will be paid per Directors’ meeting, 2 days per committee meeting and Members’ meeting, and 1 day for AGM.

Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer / Chair of Trust Board

The post of Minutes Secretary will provide full administrative support to the Trust’s Board of Directors. The post will involve attendance at all Board and committee meetings in order to take minutes, as well as preparation in advance and production of minutes post-meetings, as well as the maintenance of governance records. This will be a varied role and it is essential that any appointed person will be highly professional and organised, and have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

It is essential that applicants have the ability to travel in order to attend meetings in a range of venues, although the majority of meetings will be held at the main office in Ampthill. It is also essential that applicants have the flexibility to attend meetings at different times of the day, including evenings. It is important to note that this is not a full Clerk to Governors role as the Trust has access to independent governance advice.
